Online Payment of Taxes in Nepal: Process prescribed by Inland Revenue Department

Nepal Government has officially enabled the online payment of taxes levied by Inland Revenue Department per the decision of 2074/11/11. E-Payment (Online) Payment of taxes services is available to only those:

a) who have availed Self Verification Service from Tax Payer's Office, thus, have username and password to log on to IRD Tax Payer's Portal

b) who have linked their company's bank account with Connect IPS, online payment service provider recognized by Nepal Government and managed by Nepal Clearing House Limited (NCHL) and thus, have a username and password. Those who do not have their bank account linked can easily do so by following the process below:
  • Open www.connectips.com
  • Create your Account ( Mobile No., Email id and Date of Birth is Mandatory for verification) Note Username and Password just entered while creating your account
  • You will receive a verification code on your mobile and email, please input that get your account verified. 
  • Now, to link your bank account, you need to fill up the form with bank account details (make sure that your bank is one of the member of bank of NCHL) and visit your bank to verify the link for you.
  • Once, bank verifies the link, your should be able to use Connect IPS instantly.


Once you have both IRD portal and Connect IPS Portal username and password with you, simply, follow the steps below:

Go to www.ird.gov.np website
  • Open Tax Payer Portal 
  • Expand General
  • Select Taxpayer Login
  • Select Proceed to Payment
  • Create New Voucher
    • Choose Bank
    • Revenue Head/ Code (click here for latest revenue code)
    • Select Payment for
    • Enter Amount to Pay
  • Click on Generate Voucher
  • Note the request code
  • Initiate the Payment Process
    • Go to Bank
    • Choose E-Payment Processor (currently IRD only accepts Connect IPS)
You will be redirected to Connect IPS Page, where
  • Login from Verified Credential ( Using username and password created during creating a user)
  • Select your Bank
  • Type OTP (One Time Password) for the transaction which you will receive in your mobile and email address provided at the time of creation of a user with Connect IPS
  • Click on Confirm for Payment
Once you confirm payment, your request code status will change "In Progress" which indicate Debit Success meaning your payment went through. 

And, within 5 minutes, it will change to "Completed" which indicate Credit Success meaning your payment was successfully deposited to Revenue Account of Government of Nepal i.e of Office of Financial Comptroller.

  2. Are we not suppose to disclose the total transaction amount and estimated profit like we used to do when we fill the form provided by IRD. How will we know the amount to pay?

    1. The form is just a notification to IRD for the type of tax being deposited along with the amount.

  3. dear sir can i pay my uncle ird tax through this. he have pan number but don't have username and password to log on to IRD Tax Payer's Portal. how can i pay his ird tax.. please guide me. i'll be very grateful. thanks

    1. You will need Login credentials provided by IRD. It can be collected by submitting an application to the assigned TaxPayer's office.
